Happy new Year 6.March.03
You wouldn't believe it if you weren't reading this, but I'm actually
updating my page! :) Not that I've got anything noteworthy to say
(oh, just that my site got over 100,000 visitors, w00t),
but a lot of people were wondering where I went. Well, mostly I'm just
preoccupied with my job at the moment. The only update is that I just
made my guestbook a little more spam-resistant (recently it's being flooded by spam,
bleurgh). But soon I think I may have some calculator-related updates for
you as well (even though I officially retired). Check back soon ;)
Update™ 12.October.02
Finally got a computer-related job :). At Media Design, where I'm currently working on
Cu2, a site which most dutch
people may have heard of ^_^. Anyways, since I'm now working on websites
fulltime, the fun of updating my own site is mostly gone. I'll try
though: Little update to the about me page,
and I believe I never mentioned my StarCraft page
before, which contains some useful info about the game.
Moving On.. 18.August.02
Afterall... I hereby, officially, retire from ticalc programming. Don't
look too surprised, it's always been coming; ticalcs aren't exactly
something you keep on doing. After releasing
Wormy I
was very disappointed by the community. It really seems like
there's no TI-86 users left at all. There are other '86 programmers and
good games being released
(Jigsaw by
Cullen recently), but nobody seems to care. I hardly receive any fanmail
- very unlike when I released my Nemesis beta 3 years ago - and no
mention at ticalc.org... the whole motivation is just gone. While the
programming is fun and all, I also want my programs to be used and
appreciated.
So, I won't be completing Nemesis. But well, Wormy's here, and my site
(with its pretty
archives)
remains as well, so that's probably enough to be proud about.
And I won't be completely gone (almost feels like I'm dieing here). I'll
still be here programming, but for PC now. At the moment I'm very busy
learning C, and I hope to eventually make some cool stuff once again.
Wormy for the PC sounds very interesting IMO; we'll see. Rightnow I'm
already working on my first project, a kewl multiplayer Tetris clone for
Linux (more about that later).
Anyways, don't expect any calc updates here from now (read: a few months
ago) on, but me and this site will remain. Later :)
Uh... Hi 8.July.02
Bluh, too bad, didn't make it, shcool is the suck. So next year I'll be
doing maths and chemistry (voor de geïnteresseerden: VAVO op 't ROC
Leiden) just 11 hours a week. ATM I just don't feel like doing anything,
hence the lack of updates/stuff.
Exams 26.May.02
42 days since my last update, but I'm still alive. Last month I've been
all busy studying and stuff, and sure didn't feel like updating my site.
The worst is yet to come (chemistry and latin), but with a little (read:
a lot of) luck I'll make it. Updates after that's all done.
Holy Stuff 13.April.02
Aaron's finished his great TI-86 Raygame:
Blinded by the
Dark <insert Simpsons quote here>. I've personally declared this
RPG holy (heh, GNU GPL even) and you should downloaded it ASAP!
:P
Furthermore, I've pronounced my new trackball with extremely l33t lighting
holy as well. That'll be all, for now.
Goody 1.April.02
Sorry no april fools jokes here (no phun at this site.)
I do have this serious (but still interesting) news: w3m-img is in debian!
A special optimized version of this site can be gotten with
?haphap=3 (unfortunately user-agent
is the same as with normal w3m, so it can't be shown automatically.) Looky:
Screenshot!
And at last, no more PPTP, NAT or DHCP-spoofing for me!
(mxstream-gebruikers zie hier).
Claustro 29.March.02
A new game for the 86. No
Wormy-quality.
I just made it to show a BASIC programmer that asm programs can be insanely
small too. At just 104 bytes it's still playable! Make that 188
bytes if you also want hiscores and stuff, but it's still small. Download
it at the
Claustro page.
Quux Everybody 28.March.02
Minor changes to this site here and there. Notably, I've stopped using
phpsessions. Maybe now Google
will spider me again? My
about
section has also been updated; now including my webcam, more personalities,
and updated
home.
I'll probably release a new game for the TI-86 tomorrow (Fear!)
Thanks to Ricky
Cobb and Aaron
Curtis for mentioning
Wormy.
Dvorak 25.March.02
Not programming atm. Maybe later. Something I did do is make a page about the
Dvorak keyboard layout!
It contains some extensive
tests on word/letter frequencies (yes I've been busy ;)), clearly showing
the inferiority of qwerty ;) and also info about non-us
Dvorak variations.
Enjoy.
Now that It's Loose 13.March.02
Seems everybody's quite happy I finally released
Wormy
(including me). It also seems to be working pretty well, not much big bad
bugs afaik (just don't set multifood to 0 peas, and it may crash when you
hide levels in yas..) I may work on it some more (especially the editor of
course) when I've got the time.
About other sites: I was rather disappointed :( Some kind words by
Eric (even got an underlined
10/10 for it), Cullen, and TI-News. However,
ticalc.org didn't even bother
to include my screenshots, and put it somewhere between dozens of
graphics and BASIC programs. Only after a few days they agreed to
make it featured (too late by then though). Overall Wormy's hardly been
seen. Too bad, 'cause I still think it turned out to be a nice game. Maybe
in a few years it'll slowly get noticed?
AT LAST!!!!!!!!!!! 6.March.02
Guess what? I DID IT AFTERALL!
Wormy's gold!
Alright then ppls, without further stalling for
time, i present to you:
- Wormy 100% - the long
awaited übergame complete with editor and sources (103kB)
- Wormy less-than-100% -
the same great game, but without the additional crap like editor and
sources (22kB)
Just grab something and enjoy :)
Wormy 99% 4.March.02
Should be the last version before its release. Some pretty nice changes:
- clipped circles!
- levelfile detection data for the new yas (real neat ;)
- race scoring improved (no death penalty, no halflap bonus)
- third singleplayer episode, and more multiplayer levels added
- the usual bugs nailed: Fixed growth recovery, linkplay setting,
multipea reset, switching episode pages, some stuff in the editor (most
notably placing over 32 objects in a single level), and ctf scoring
Fear my Survey-powers! 2.March.02
The last one should have been something like "Calculator upgrades
you have", but because of me being too lazy to add another two
words, it became more like you want. Doesn't matter.
Seems
most of you want more memory (34%). More results on the
Survey page.
The new poll is about when you think
Wormy's
gonna be released (this will in no way affect the release date.)
Mkay 27.February.02
So I've thought of a release date for Wormy. But I'm not gonna tell you
when, since there's this big chance I'm not gonna make it (it is soon).
Still need to do more testing; It needs to be perfect.
Aint Dead yet Jim 20.February.02
It's official: school sucks. Anyways, I'm busy, blah blah. Maybe some
updates next week? Hope so, don't know. Until then, enjoy the minor changes
to this site (which have been here for some weeks now already, but still..)
ie. the lovely all rights reserved message at the bottom of each
page and stuff. Oh blah, sorry, see you later.
Random Updates 28.January.02
Altered the popup navigation thingies a little (now they're less cool, but
work better imho.) Also made a main ticalc
programming section,
which i can expand if I ever feel bored (not likely...). I fixed the
Findpixels,
added a little note to the
Nemesis page,
and made a
happy page
with some of Sinfest's
dog+kitty comics, in case anybody's feeling depressed.
Wormy 98% 19.January.02
Like I said: no more major changes in
Wormy.
Still, I think this new version has been more altered than any version
before. So many things improved. They're just all minor. Out of the large
list o' changes, here's the most important ones:
- fixed autogrowth, disabled objects, sending peas, steep lines, fourth
worm's memory
- transmits all game+level data over link
- teams (combines scores of worm 1+3 and 2+4)
- wall overwrite bug finally fixed
- lots and lots of optimizations
Especially the wall overwrite bug is something I'd never have believed I
could fix. Still, I did. That and many other things. I'm actually proud of
what Wormy has become (at last), and (I've said it before, but really this
time...) it's very close to its release. Just a few more levels and a
little testing. Stay tuned.
Survey 18.January.02
New poll's
up. The last one was pretty interesting. It closed with the most of the
voters (112 out of 315 total) saying the 86 was the l33test calc of them
all! Good. However, there also were a stunning amount of people who
actually thought the TI-83(+) was l33t. Dear god! Well, it's probably best
not to say anything else.
(Good) News tomorrow prolly.
Happy new year Ended 7.January.02
In other words, school has started again :( Also lotsa tests coming up :(
One bit of good news: I'll be able to test Wormy linkplay some more. Today
we found out that the link isn't realiable with near-dead batteries ;] But
tomorrow we'll hopefully be able to test whether the levels are transmitted
correctly..
Wormy 97% 3.January.02
Happy new year! Let's start it well with a new version of
Wormy:
- No more internal levels. Everything considered, external levels only is
just the best way to go (plus, the program file became too big.) I'm just
fearing the clueless users who don't upload the levels...
- Improved lineroutine - lines and circles can now be twice as big. Not
big enough yet, but that will probably never happen (I'd have to switch
to using words.) I've settled with a maximum length of ~128 pixels, which
will have to do.
- Made a second episode with 10 singleplayer levels, and started work on
a third levelpack with multiplayer levels.
- Multiple peas! Singleplayer levels can have all the peas in
place before start, instead of the normal "one pea after
another". And there's a Multifoodmatch mode, which is a normal
multiplayer foodmatch, but also with multiple peas (upto 99 of em!).
I'm not planning on making any more major changes (the multiple peas thing
was just a brilliant idea by Scabby, which I just had to do.) The last
few versions before the 100% release should only contain bugfixes,
additional levels, and a more tested linkplay,
Last but not least 31.December.01
Last updates of this year. A newyear logo, and a lot of stuff for TI
assembly programmers:
- The large TI-83 and 85 character maps have also been included on the
Main TICalc page.
- Some tips on optimizing z80 for beginning programmers, on this
new page.
- Another new page
with a collection of TI-85/86 FindPixels. Could be very useful
indeed.
Little Spare Time 23.December.01
Happy holidays! Quite some updates to this site, most significantly: the
winter logo is back (w00h00), updated the lame page
about me and
the happy page
(McBlink and
Microsoft
stuff are now on seperate pages), and I created a
Linux page.
WormEdit 0.5 19.December.01
I really can't make a single level for
Wormy
without altering the level editor in some way. I've attempted to make a
few, so several bugs have been fixed, and the mouse support has improved
a lot. The editor still sucks of course (and it should :P) but it's
less unusable. I just hope lotsa people will be making levels (at least
Aaron's
making his Wormage, woohohoo :))
Wormy 96% 15.December.01
Not done, but getting closer (still can't promise any release date).
Several hours of coding led to the following improvements:
- Levelfile descriptions and ability to hold > 7 files
Linkplay works at last!
- Long worms (grown over 255 pixels large) no longer get shorter
after death.
- More pops up the new pause menu instead of turning off the calc.
It allows changing contrast or turning off. Tnx to willyslice for
the idea. (Amazing screeny >>>)
- Many bugs fixed, stuff optimized (init procedure over 200 bytes
smaller) and WormEdit enhancements (rude mouse support for example.)
Forgot to mention 14.December.01
New survey!
The previous
one
closed with 91 votes, with over 80% saying it's about f'n time for me to
start thinking of new suveys. It's just that I usually don't have that
much inspiration. But I've thought of something now, so take the poll if
you still haven't done that by now.
And btw, while this news item kinda sucks, I may actually have something
a little more interesting to say tomorrow ;)
Blah 2.December.01
Yeah I kinda like these <Unordered List> thingies ;)
- U63r1337 SHIAR.NET regged. Don't go there, this site and stuff
is and will be at Shiar.org.
- Altough it does look _so_ cool, I think it's about time to get rid of
the old thanksgiving logo. Till next year.. ;)
- Old box (Celeron 733 | 128M) back up after being broken for 134 days.
Page
a little updated too.
- Links
updated too. Wow.
Buseeey 25.November.01
Been doing other things.. School, games, etc. Bla:
- Worked a littlebit on the level synching in Wormy linkplay (so both
calcs are playing the same game).
- Drew the TI-83 variable font chart (since it's a little different
(ugly imho) from the TI-86 one.) It's on the
calc page
along with the other font charts.
- Bought a new old P166, another 40GB, and I may get my old Slot-1
system back to life soon. So much time and so little to do... Strike
that; reverse it; thank you.
This is Good Stuff! 9.November.01
Really: Wormy
linkplay seems to WORK! =) Just tested it on two real calcs (the
link's buggy in vti), and everything was just fine. Handshaking works,
sending peas' positions works, 1/3 players works, and game over signal
works! This is just great, after all that time it's finally playable!
Can't say when the rest of Wormy will be finished though; still a lot of
smaller stuff to do..
Furthermore, Calc.org
and TI-News are back up.
ROFL 4.November.01
Calc.org just got
Slashdotted!
And they already had some server problems lately. Just cruel. So for
now, my poor site is the largest ti8x
site left. This is just sick.
November Already 2.November.01
While I didn't have much to say lately, my site's still up and running.
Unlike TI-News
and Ticalc.org's
archives. It would seem I'm largest after
calc.org (except for 68k.)
Woo hoo ;) I'll continue expanding my
archives,
but because of the quality-over-quantity it'll take time :(
Updates: Some reviews, and Latest additions to the Archives
now shows the files added over the last week. Also a new survey at last.
If you can think of a good poll, plz
tell me!
Nothing 19.October.01
Sorry 'bout the lack of updates. I was kinda busy (school) and didn't
have much to tell anyways. Some minor updates on a couple of pages,
I've updated the news archives (about time...), and I fixed the counter
so it only counts the visits again (some duplicate hits removed.)
Expect some real updates soon.
Boring Shit 29.September.01
Here's some stuff nobody really wants to know, but i'm gonna tell you
anyways :P
- For those of you who didn't see it yet: I'm trying to help
Aaron
with his great new ray-game. His latest version WIP9 already
contains a few of my lame graphics =)
- I'm trying to learn
dvorak,
so don't expect huge amounts of text from me (at least, for now...)
- Haxorred my modem: no pptp for me, muhaha!
- Mensen bekend met het bonki-fenomeen moeten ff mijn nieuwe
projectje www.Bonki.nl
bekijken :))
- I thought i had more to tell you... well, n/m. Oh, I'll be
installing XP tomorrow. Like i said, nothing you wanted to know. Well
I don't care. Seeya.
Hit 50000 Times 23.September.01
The counter says 50437, so I found my excuse to post some news.
May not seem like too much (still about 20000 requests a day!) compared
to ticalc.org, but I'm getting more visitors every day. At this rate,
I'll be more popular in half a year or so ;)
And from now on, you can view the hits in my archives. Presenting: the
top downloads page.
Update 21.September.01
First of all my condolences to America. No long stories here (most of us
prolly have the same feelings about this event..) I'll just get on
with my calculator stuff.
For the people who keep bugging me with stupid questions (yeah,
schools have started again), I've made a screenshotted
Walkthrough
about how to upload programs to your calculator. Some other pages updated
as well (including the
Wormy page
which now has a version history), more reviews (as you can see above) and
Wormy updates (nothing really worth mentioning iirc.)
Happy Billenium 9.September.01
Very likely the billenium
Wormy
will be released in! Several improvements in
Wormy/WormEdit today, most of which bugfixes. Also, my faith in linkplay
has been somewhat restored. Don't expect ZTetris quality, but it might
actually work.
More Wormy 8.September.01
Numerous changes to the Wormy Editor. On request, I've added mouse
support. And whether I like it or not, I have to admit it's a lot easier
to use now. It also runs under Linux (DosEmu 0.98.8.0) now, and even on
an 486, despite my efforts to make it as slow as I could ;)
Furthermore, level files can have descriptions (for author's name for example)
and they can be selected from multiple pages (ie you can have more than
seven levelfiles on your calc at a time.)
Wormy 95% 7.September.01
Beta version 0.95 was sent to some beta-testers. Major changes:
- Drawings of Wormies on main/gameover screens.
- Race mode has been completed. All modes are done now.
- Timematch exits automagically when somebody has clearly won.
- Multiplayer levels can have names.
I also wrote most of the readme :P All that's left is linkplay
(that's 4%) and a few more levels and bugfixes.
Tragic Day 3.September.01
School has begun again :( And it's not very likely to stop any time soon.
Sigh. Well, if all goes well, it should be my last year.
(If not, Wormy will get delayed yet another year :P
j/k..) I'll prolly be a little busy the next few days, but I may
have some Wormy-related news for you this weekend.
